How Its Works

Information on Courses

The Australian Institute of Dermatology runs a 3 year course which educates Doctors with an interest in dermatology to a level of expertise in the diagnosis and management of skin diseases such that they can handle most skin presentations without the help of a Specialist Dermatologist. This is particularly useful for doctors working in rural areas of Australia or in outer city areas poorly serviced by Specialist Dermatologists. In year 1 you take the AID Membership  Course. If you pass this you are invited to take the Advanced Surgical and Fellowship Courses which run over a two year period. They cover Specialist Medical Dermatology, Dermatopathology, Dermatoscopy, Derm Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. Full details of these courses can be found using the Links below.

Institute Funding

The Institute does not accept funding from any outside source. It specifically has no association with pharmaceutical companies. Neither is it funded by Government grants.

Unlike many other post-graduate teaching organisations this allows it to be completely independent in what and how it teaches and the advice it provides.
